A 39-year old Seguin man and his 31-year-old female passenger have been flown via air ambulance to University Hospital in San Antonio, after the Dodge Dart they were traveling in collided with a tractor-trailer rig on S.H. 97 near the junction with C.R. 306 east of Floresville at approximately 3:23 p.m. this afternoon.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol Trooper Jack Johnson, the Dart was headed east on S.H. 97 when it crossed the line into oncoming traffic, for reasons as yet unknown. The Florida-based driver of the big rig took evasive action, but the Dart still clipped the rear of his trailer. The rear axle of the rig's trailer was severed, & the Dart was spun into the middle of the roadway.

The truck driver was unharmed.

The highway was closed to through traffic in both directions while the accident scene was cleared. The crash remains under investigation.
