Hay & Forage Report
Friday, June 26
Compared to last week: Hay prices were unchanged this week. Ground alfalfa traded $5-$10 lower. Trade activity and demand were light to moderate. Many producers are trying to get into their fields especially the areas affected by Tropical Storm Bill last week. Some fields are still too wet to get in and producers hoping to dry out this week with expected first cutting coastal Bermuda to have lower quality. Many believe coastal Bermuda small squares may be difficult to find this year with cutting having been pushed back due to all the rain. Chances of rain in the forecast for the weekend in the Panhandle which wouldn’t hurt since it has turned off hot and have had a chance to dry out. Prices for hay and pellets quoted per ton except where noted. . . .
