Recently, I received notice that a horrible series of tragic events had occurred. These had left someone, whom I had not previously known, in a sad situation. Their only hope was reaching out to me. They proceeded to tell me how their dear father had died and now, sadly, the mother also has died of cancer. For some reason, how it was even financially possible remains a mystery to me, she and her husband, 'Rev. Philip Able' have relocated in Japan. Of course, helping another 'clergy', a self identified member of my faith and surely an honorable 'man of the cloth' should by all the Christian values I hold dear, force me into action.

For some reason, the deceased parents felt compelled to secure their mass fortune of $1,200,000 in a cashiers cheque to me, someone who they have never met. I am touched with such trusting spirit. I am deeply honored, to say the least. However, my conscience is now wounded and my own ethics are in question. Mrs 'Rev Philip Able' has informed me that my failure to accept her parent's request to receive the cheque has left these monies in limbo. I failed to send them a check to cover the handling costs. This has caused her and her husband great difficulty. What should I do?

Now before you get all panicky and question my 'WWJD', let us pause.
Take a moment to listen. Allow yourself to hear the sweet voice that says, 'Isn't that special' from the Church Lady on SNL. Ya know, God don't make no dummies so people have to work at it. There's a little God-given feeling, a voice, if you will, down in the pit of my gut that responds to this and these kinds of stories. It's a feeling that somehow stretches up and smacks my God-given common sense right along side my head. There's a switch inside me that sets alarms off as a voice within that screams, 'Are you serious?!' (There are also some unprintable, old, 1969 Army Basic Training phrases going off inside my head too trying to ram themselves between this question's sentence construction).

And what troubles me, but shouldn't, is there are some people who are actually thinking that maybe, just maybe, there's an element of truth to Mrs Rev Philip Able's demise! You are probably the same people waiting for 'Change we can believe in' or 'Give hope a chance' or maybe you are better off than you were. (The same old, 1969 Army phrases are trying to crowd in here too.)

A lot of what I'm hearing out of Washington, DC has the same tone. They want me to pay for their pipe dreams, their agenda, their retirements at my expense, run rough shod over my convictions and values, at the expense of generations to come. We elect them and they end up with a LIFE LONG SALARY and family perks that the regular Citizens cannot have. This is like living in The Hunger Games!

As I go before God in prayer I hear Him calling me to take a stand against stupidity in America used in His Name. I am part of that region of this Country who still 'clings to their guns and religion'! This isn't a threat, it is who we are, free people to hunt, protect ourselves and pray.

Tell ya what. How 'bout YOU write them a blank check? Every one of us who have Served our Country already did and I'm about outta giving up anymore. (hrg)
