I just surveyed a random deputy, and I refuse to name, but I was shocked at their pay. There is absolutely zero reason that the base salary of a deputy is less than 30,00 in this county!! Absolutely ZERO reason! Dispatchers!! There is not a damned reason those people aren't making 30 MINIMUM!!! Those people are the lifeline, the difference in timely response and they are paid garbage! This is bullschlip!!! The pay for these people needs to bumped to a level where they can make a living without having to bust their asses on side jobs and if a slacker or two are within the ranks, the higher pay will entice better ones. Demand it! Absolutely absurd what these people make. No wonder this county is a "revolving door."

"County commoners saved money." That is an oxymoron. To no be would be followed up with ..."saving taxpayers xxxx." Save here to spend there. If the money they "save" goes toward the wholly underpaid salaries of deputies, more power. I haven't read an article where the deputies get paid more and they are the ones truly risking their lives. Pay them!! If you don't want to pay because they are doing a half-assed job, pay the position and it will attract better candidates. They are truly the ones getting crapped on and no one wants to say it. Shame. Absolute shame.
