Chronic Wasting Disease in captive deer herds has been making headlines. Such a disease can financially hurt an industry, and cattlemen are constantly on guard for this. Disease outbreak sources vary, from migratory birds to stray cattle and horses from Mexico to feral swine. Cattlemen turn to multiple sources -- veterinarians, the AgriLife Extension Service, and county and state seminars -- to keep up.  . . .
