Compared to last report: Compared to last report: Alfalfa prices were mostly steady this week with the top quality price range narrowing as dairies are only willing to pay so much. Coastal Bermuda sold steady to firm due to much of the producing areas have fallen under drought conditions. Trade activity was slow to moderate on light to moderate demand. Many dairies and feedlots had previously purchased a variety of hay and have backed off the alfalfa market with milk prices and cattle prices down. Most of what is in demand for now is small bales of coastal Bermuda that horse owners are beginning to stock up for fall and winter. Prices for hay and pellets quoted per ton except where noted. . . .
