Dwain Duke has been named as the new general manager of the Floresville Electric Light & Power System (FELPS) effective Nov. 9, following a unanimous vote of the system’s board of trustees at a special Oct. 7 meeting.

Duke, an electrical engineer, currently holds a management position with San Antonio-based CPS Energy. He will replace former FELPS General Manager Kyle Dicke, who resigned Sept. 11.

stay away from GVEC, as Tibbs says, FELPS and CPS is a great combination. CPS has a history of assisting FELPS in times of need and not necessarily always on the books so to speak. The last GM did not utilize CPS and went to... More ›

COOP, that's very true. Plus GVEC and CPS Energy both produce their own power. Whereas FLEPS is strictly a distribution service, hence the Power Cost Recovery charge every month on our bill to recover the fees CPS Energy charges... More ›

Serious Thinker, You can't really compare FELPS with GVEC they are different animals as far as the company goes. One is a Municipality and governed by a board of directors that answers to 3 different city's and the other is... More ›

In the past GVEC and FELPS have worked together. My concern is that with him being from CPS Energy, that collaboration may not happen anymore.

One thing is for sure he can do any worst. FELPS is the worst supplier I have ever seen in 6 decades of buying electricity. If Wilson county had another choice FELPS would have been out of business along time ago.

CPS and the relationship FELPS has with them has been most beneficial to our community. There are many behind the scene type things that go on daily that benefits our community. That close relationship was damaged by the last... More ›

Maybe the new guy can help arrange a CPS Energy buy out..At least then maybe the service would be more reliable and they would have the capital to invest in the distribution system.

Good luck to us. Those new meters are killers. I cannot believe that we have to dip into a CPS person to run FELPS. The last idiot was nothing but a political smooth talker and full of himself. Residents need to speak... More ›

I agree with Senior Citizen. Poor guy hasn't even started yet so give him a chance. Besides if he doesn't cut the mustard Floresville has a cure all by the name of Jim Miller. If he's not up to par I bet Miller can raise a... More ›
