Gov. Abbott Orders Capitol Flags To Be Flown Half-Staff In Honor Of Fallen Dyess Air Force Base Airmen

AUSTIN -- Gov. Greg Abbott today ordered the flags on the Texas Capitol building to be lowered to half-staff in honor of the lives and public service of four Airmen from Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, TX who lost their lives in a plane crash in Afghanistan.

“Texans revere the men and women who put their lives on the line each day to protect and serve our freedom, our communities and our nation,” said Governor Abbott. “These valiant airmen, who wore the uniform with honor and so tragically paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, are deserving of our thoughts, our prayers and our utmost gratitude. As such, the flags on the state capitol building should be lowered to half-staff in honor of the legacy and memory of these courageous Airmen.”

I was not talking about the President, one "head in the sand" Texas Gov. How many military members die who are from Texas compared to all 50 states? Not like he is real busy without the House in session is he?... More ›

Without knowing the whole story the New Guy is accusing the Governor of slapping the Vets in the face....Sounds like a liberal hack. When is the last time the President called for a half staff for a veteran?

Gov Abbott, the C-130 crashed Oct 2 and you are just now ordering the flags lowered? Wow, did you not know about the crash? What a slap to the Vets in Texas.
