A mowing crew is being blamed for an Oct. 15 fire that scorched the field behind the Lauro G. De Leon III Floresville Event Center.

According to Sgt. Devin Keen of the Floresville Police Department, the Floresville Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene at approximately 8:30 p.m. after a mower ignited some dry coastal hay. Firefighters quickly gained control of the blaze, which claimed a new mower, Keen said.

This is a very dangerous weekend for fires. Humidity is low and grass is dry. Be safe.
