As a youngster I couldn't wait until I was old enough to do what I wanted. Those years under Dad and Mother's authority and guidance I was told what I wanted because they wanted what was best for me before I knew what was best. The opportunities to learn throughout my "formative years" and their prayers were to get me to where I would have a better chance in life through having enough common sense to want what was the best for myself.

Looking back over my life since then there have been times that some decisions have been purely God-directed genius and some so downright stupid it is a wonder I am still alive. For example, after a bout of immature interactions with my Dad and some idiotic behaviors, I had the brainstorm to quit High School to join the Army at 17 years old. Somewhere about the second week into Army Basic Training I realized my Dad had been training me for the real World.

By the time I miraculously made it to 21 years old I realized my Dad was a genius! Mother bombarded heaven in my behalf and her prayers carried me through a lot of poor decisions before I figured out what were wise decisions. Together Mother and Dad anchored my being as surely as God evidently needed some example of just how often He could fix dumb decisions.

One of the things Mother and Dad instilled was to learn. So, I got me some book learning by going to college and I became ed-ja-me-cated. One of the things I learned was to "Think Things Through" which led me to become a Cognitive Therapist. The basics behind this approach is as simple as not being led by what one merely feels or by what others do. A person begins to comprehend that emotions are the results of what a person is thinking. It allows the individual to be empowered and personally responsible to achieve lasting satisfaction rather than merely seek quick fixes.

Now, I have taken responsibility for my own life. For me, this means confessing to God, repentance, accepting Jesus Christ as my Savior and my BOSS. There have been times I have had to go back and make some things right with people and in other areas I have had to pray for "crop failure", if you know what I mean. As I am now into my 60's I get kinda riled up when someone looks for quick fixes after I've spent my own life and health SERVING the Church, Community and County.

One of those things that get me the most riled is the fact that there is a set of individuals who are supposed to be doing the best for "WE, The People..." We elect them to represent us for our BEST interests, whether it be how to spend our tax dollars or pass Legislation to insure the security of us, The Citizens. As things are currently being done these individuals are huddling in Washington, DC and whatever they are doing is sending shockwaves of insecurity throughout the whole Nation. It is as if they are purposefully dismantling this Great Nation. As a whole, they could stand up to a President who thumbs his nose at the Constitution, selects which Laws he will enforce, and a host of other moves that is not helping this Nation.

My attempt to wrap my head around how they can justify lifetime salaries. I am trying to comprehend how bringing in masses committed to an ideology that is opposed to the U.S. Constitution is in OUR best interest. I cannot see how that this set of individuals huddling in Washington so flagrantly disregards common sense and passing unsustainable social programs that has NOT been Thought Through!

My Mother and Dad taught me to chose wisely. To gather friends around me who will encourage me being my best. So, now I have to come to the conclusion, those in Washington are not my friends. No matter what they say come election time, their behaviors have not been in my or your best interest.

I am afraid that until enough "WE, The People..." become vocal, involved and willing to challenge the status quo in Washington common sense will not return. It is going to take people who are riled enough to vote people out of office, hold elected officials accountable and make them all responsible TO "WE, The People..."

You and I are old enough and smart enough to know what's best and it's time to make it happen. (hrg)
