WASHINGTON--DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz released the following statement in response to December's jobs report that showed 292,000 new jobs created, and the unemployment rate holding at 5 percent:

“December's strong jobs report is further proof that the hard work being done by President Obama and Congressional Democrats to rebuild the economy after the Great Recession is paying off. There is no denying that 70 straight months of private-sector job growth -- the longest stretch on record -- is progress that American workers and families can count on. In fact, 2014 and 2015 were the best two years for U.S. job growth since the last time a Democrat occupied the White House. We still have a lot of work to do to strengthen middle-class and working families, but it’s clear that the economy has undergone a remarkable turnaround from where we were seven years ago, and that Democrats have what it takes to get the job done.

“These strong job-growth numbers also expose how clueless the Republican presidential candidates sound when they talk about the economy. In their conservative fantasyland, the last month of the Bush administration when we lost nearly 800,000 jobs were the good old days, and we need more budget-busting tax cuts for the rich to take us back there.

“Americans don’t want to go back to the Bush economy. They want a forward-looking president who will build on the progress we’ve already made and who will ensure that we have an economy that works for everyone -- not just the wealthy few.”

New Guy. The car companies practically gave away 2015 models. Wait for their profit numbers. Look at their PE ratio.

I rest my case on people not paying attention. Not connecting the dots. Twisting and turning anything related to a fact - into complete mush. Short memories. Not a clue to how the underpinnings of the economy works. That... More ›

T-Bone. I would not wait for advice from New Guy even if he offered it free. And, should he offer advice free, I certainly would not follow it! Of course, according to New Guy, what do I know?

T-Bone, try mortgage REITs and business development companies for double digit returns.

Hey, I just paid $1.57 for a gallon of gas and the US automotive industry just posted the best year ever in car sales....does that sound like an economy in trouble? Reflecting on the past does not make sense, how about trying... More ›

T-Bone: I could, but I would have to charge you for that info....don't ask Boob, he hasn't got a clue on economy issues.

Debra. You're right. In 2008 we went from 5.0% in January to 7.3.% as of December 31. In 2009, Obama's first year, we went from 7.3% to 9.9%. It stayed pretty much steady through 2010. Obama's years (7) have seen more... More ›

Boy - we have short memories. In 2008-2009 unemployment was very high? Remember?? The government kept extending the time a person could be on unemployment. ... The rate of new disability enrollment skyrocketed. (No mention... More ›

New Guy. My comment wasn't about guns either. It was about the lunacy and lies she stated about jobs and the economy being such great shape under Obama. When Obama took office in January of 2009, the labor participation rate... More ›
