Compared to last report: Hay prices were $5 to $10 higher as we kicked off the new year. Movement was light to moderate. The Panhandle and West Texas are still dealing with muddy conditions getting hay in and out of fields. The increase in hay prices was mostly due to freight and cold temperatures causing livestock to really clean out what was stocked up. East and North Texas are dealing with mud as well, but producers say small bales of coastal Bermuda are moving at an average pace. South Texas coastal Bermuda producers are keeping their prices steady as there is plenty of hay available. Prices for hay and pellets quoted per ton except where noted. . . .
