Wilson County Home & Garden Show (Updated Jan. 23)

Sat, March 5
Alternative School Campus

The 10th Annual Wilson County Home & Garden Show will benefit the S.T.A.R.S. program at the Floresville Alternative School. Sponsored by Milberger's Nursery, KLUP Radio 930am, and Wilson County News. This year's event is taking a new twist, as the Floresville Chamber of Commerce is joining forces to help with this event. In lieu of holding its own Home & Garden Show, as in previous years, the event this year will be called the Wilson County Home & Garden Show. This will open the event up to possible new vendors who previously only participated in the Home & Garden Show. All activities will be held on the grounds of the Alternative School.

The County-Line Community Band will present entertainment from 10-12, and a live radio broadcast of Milberger's Gardening South Texas will take place from 12-2. NEW this year will be one-hour presentations on Disaster Preparedness, container gardening, and other subjects, as well as a four-hour Landscape Workshop.

Vendor applications are being accepted. Some of the vendors that have already signed up include: The National Weather Service, The American Red Cross, Wilson County Amateur Radio Club (pending final approval), and Wilson County 2nd Responders / CERT Program *** UPDATE new vendors: Mitchell Lake Audubon Center; Guide Dogs of Texas; Girls Scout Troop 559; Boys Scout Troop 393; Soaps D Crafts; Finders Keepers; Pamered Chef; Cindy's Creations; Color Me Green Nursery; Pfeil's Home and Garden.

A 4-hour Landscape Seminar will be held from 8-12 with a $25 fee ($35 for a couple). One-hour presentations will cover Severe Weather Awareness, Irrigation Systems, Turf Grass Care, and Tomatoes. Free children's activities also available.

I don't recall this event ever being as crowded as the balloon festival was.

just wondering

I hope there is a plan for parking that is better than years past. After the balloon fest traffic snarls... it seems we can do better from lessons learned. Maybe a park&ride from the high school?

Different event, Debra. You're thinking of that city event. This one is the Alternative School's annual event, which has nothing to do with the city bunch, and the plants sold there benefit the program.

I see - so when the Home and Garden show has to PAY to use the Civic Center - it will go somewhere else. Nice - Real Nice What a bunch of BS.

I can't wait to attend! And the Plant ID is so fun. Thanks for continuing this!
