Humor is a wonderful gift. Use it wisely and it can build bridges. Where there has been a tense misunderstanding it can aid in smoothing repair. Even the holy scripture tells us the power of humor is like a medicine (Proverbs 17:22).

However, there are things that are serious that cannot be laughed off. Still, there are things so ridiculous that you just know immediately it's some kind of a joke. I mean it has to be because it is so ridiculous. Say, for example, the very name of this column, "Musings From Behind the Couch."

Hopefully, you get the mental picture of a guy hunkered down behind a couch as if this provides some type of safety barrier while he is pondering or musing, if you will, but it's just to be a humorous image. This is my approach to get you to read my BLOG in taking a somewhat relaxed look at a topic as we take a look together at the blunt edge of any topic presented.

People are walking around with guards up and nobody is offering solutions, just more laughable distractions. So, it is my hope to get your guard down to read, think, dialogue and hopefully to get motivated into action. The preferred action is to VOTE and even better, become politically available yourself! Too many are elected not because people are for the person or issue but because people are so discouraged that they do not even cast a vote and by this very non-action end up getting the other issue or other Candidate elected!

Now, with the above stated what is happening around all of us in this USA is no laughing matter. The mounting issues at hand and the solutions presented by our Elected Officials are so ludicrous that they could have appeared in a 1960's issue of Mad Magazine with Alfred E. Newman smugly smiling with his caption underneath of "What-me worry?" We NEED to be worried and demanding solutions! You and I, we need to be actively present and our voices heard! What's sick is that the lunacy from Elected Officials is just plain NUTS!

A few people joined together cannot be squelched. The larger the number makes their voice loud and cannot be silenced. I encourage each of us to take a stand, be willing to get involved and join forces here in Wilson County Texas or wherever you are when you read this. Find like minded people and BE ONE UNITED VOICE and you will be a power to be reckoned with. In my daily writings, I often use the motto, *Catch The VISION of Possibilities*. I think it fits here also.

The question "Are you serious?!" has to be followed with a non-laughing call to action, "Are 'WE, The People...' going to get serious before its too late?"

What say ye?
