Attorney asks court to order recall election for Floresville

The effort to recall Floresville Mayor Sherry Castillo and council members Daniel Tejada and Juan Ortiz has gone to court.

Attorney Javier Villalobos filed a writ of mandamus Feb. 16 with the 218th Judicial District Court. On behalf of signers of the recall petition, the writ asks the court to order a special recall election.

The writ further requests the court to respond no later than Feb. 18 and to order the recall election be held in conjunction with the city election already scheduled for May 7.

Tonight’s special city council meeting also will address calling for a recall election. See

With nearly every chair in the council chambers occupied, the three officials named in the recall petition failed to show tonight. Without a quorum, there was no official meeting. I believe they actually committed political suicide... More ›
