The special meeting scheduled for the Floresville City Council on Wednesday, Feb. 17, didn’t take place, for lack of a quorum.

Council members Jim Miller and Johnny Ray Nieto were the only council members in attendance.

The sole item of business was to order a special election for Mayor Sherry Castillo and council members Daniel Tejada and Juan Ortiz to stand for a recall vote. These three did not attend.

When Floresville City Attorney Chris Hugg advised that a council meeting would not take place, most of the approximately 60 people in attendance remained for an informal question-and-answer session with Miller and Nieto, lasting about half an hour.

Watch for more on this developing story online and in the Feb. 24 print edition of the Wilson County News.
