Well, if you're reading this we've made it so far having endured through the Debates and through Valentine's Day. It may have cost you and me both more than we realized.

Let's talk about Valentine's: At one time Cupid floated through the air and shot his bow striking the hopeful and unsuspecting with enough sentiment to gag any seasoned married person. Whether you believe in this mythical creature or not you cannot ignore the facts, cards, flowers and heart shaped candy boxes. Nevertheless, if you picked up on the hints that tell you not to forget, you got her some thing. Maybe you could not resist opening the box of chocolates taking out the liner that tells you what each piece is. So, you presented Valentine's chocolates to your beloved expecting a reward on your investment. Hopefully, you were allowed a few morsels to taste of the promised quality beneath the flashy box. Hopefully, after the investment of your time and effort you received a slight recognition of your sacrifice. Hopefully, you knew which piece of chocolate to choose for yourself.

But let's talk about the Debates: If you've watched any of the Debates or yelling matches, I am sure it all has solidified your selection of who should be entrusted to get your vote (I am seriously kidding, as it's like enduring some reality TV Show of "Let Me Insult You All"). I was hoping for some intellectual stimulation of which is void in most that sloshes out of my television.

Regardless, Democrat or Republican, I was so hoping for, oh, I don't know, maybe I was naÔvely hoping for skilled debating on the issues gutting our USA. Maybe these Candidates could have talked about Health Care costs as the age of 65 draws closer to me and I personally am concerned which Home the missus will stick me. I was just hoping for some depth of insight, plans, wisdom, restraint and emotional maturity. Knowing that those who receive Social Security and/or Military retirement DID NOT get a Cost of Living increase while the WH invites tens of thousands of religiously & ideologically anti-American refugees just seemed an important point to know how each Candidate would offer to right this.

Knowing so many who are busting their assets trying to pay rent, raise children and have family time is a concern of mine. My own son and I both served in Iraq. He lives in another State still serving in the Army National Guard "one weekend a month" but hardly sees his boys because there are no good jobs where he can afford to live. (It is insane the amount of hurdles and stress a person must jump through to move from one State to another to look for securing a family supporting wage job, housing, schools, transfer Units, etc).

I grew up in a family who expected more than what we are getting today. My Dad and his generation defended the Free World against Communism, Fascism, Imperialism, Nazism and Socialism. We are now living with some who are trying to pick the "best" pieces and presenting this to the American People (with no lid liner identifying the pieces). What we are left with is hate rhetoric, tension in the Cities, lack of our manufacturing base, poor paying employment, unsustainable social programs, and the like, which is not what my Dad's generation fought to bring about. I know this current mess and the pending fiasco that is set to flood our Country is a disaster waiting to happen without needing a liner to tell me which piece is good or bad. As I look back over my own career of serving my Country, this is NOT what I believe my Country has ever stood for.

Bringing Debates and Valentine's Day/myth together "WE, The People..." are looking at a mixed up box of nuts trying to look sweet trying to sell us on some mythical fix at a very high cost. I want solutions, not some sickening sweet story! Sad to say that these Candidates are the best choices we have who are willing to run. These Candidates scare me as I hear Forrest Gump, "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get." hrg

What I am finding fascinating while at the same time thoroughly disgusted by is the Establishment's (McConnell's recent statements) determination to implode rather than support the candidate chosen (if the polls prove to be ... More ›

HR. There are two people running that do not personally criticize the others. Ted Cruz and Ben Carson. Both offer you what you seem to be asking for in a president. Ben in a mild mannered way and, Ted in a very substantive ... More ›
