Floresville High School will hold its first-ever John Velasquez Tiger Baseball Classic Thursday through Saturday, March 3-5, at the Floresville High School baseball field.

The tournament will honor Coach John Edward Velasquez, who spent 15 years of his 36-year coaching career at Floresville High School, 12 of them serving as head baseball coach. Velasquez passed away last October.

Family, friends, former co-workers, and students are invited to attend a ceremony to honor the much-loved coach Friday, March 4, at 7 p.m. before the Tigers take on Pleasanton. The entrance fee is $4 for adults and $2 for children.

For more information, call Jason Pfluger at 210-378-7217.

John Velasquez was a wonderful coach, colleague, and friend. His legacy lives on, and I am so glad FHS is doing this. Good job, Jason! Thank you, Mr. Schroller and Mrs. Bays! Go Tigers!
