Someone needs to read Reagan's speeches on why he switch sides. His anti-communism droved him to the Republican Party as he thought they were stronger against that movement versus the Demo Party. As $$$ played a big part too.

The GOP did not allow anything...it was the voters. I watched a significant number of DEMOs vote republican to get him elected.
