Despite being involved in two incidents that brought out cautions and being credited with a 32nd-place finish Friday night in the Subway Firecracker 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Daniel Suarez was able to maintain his championship points lead. That points lead shrank, though, with Elliott Sadler getting to within six points of the lead.

Suarez’s position as the points leader doesn’t really matter though, as he’s a race winner this year. That win secures his position in the Xfinity Series’ first-ever Chase to determine its champion. As a matter-of-fact, Suarez is one of three winners, so far, 15 races into the season. With Sprint Cup Series drivers dominating victory lane, four races have been won by Xfinity Series championship-eligible drivers. Surez, Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Erik Jones, and Sadler.

Of the aforementioned three winners, Jones leads the way with two wins, while Suarez and Sadler have a win apiece.

Here’s a look at the provisional Chase drivers, as they stand after 15 races:

1. Erik Jones (2 wins)

2. Daniel Suarez (1 win)

3. Elliott Sadler (1 win)

4. Ty Dillon (483 points)

5. Justin Allgaier (-21 points)

6. Brendan Gaughan (-13 points)

7. Brandon Jones (-20 points)

8. Brennan Poole (-7 points)

9. Darrell Wallace Jr. (-28 points)

10. Ryan Reed (-28 points)

11. Ryan Sieg (-16 points)

12. Blake Koch (-9 points)

Xfinity Series owner championship note: The No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, primarily driven by Kyle Busch, and the No. 88 JR Motorsports, driven primarily by a line-up of Sprint Cup Series stars, are running away from the pack in the owner points standings. The No. 18 team leads the way, with the No. 88 team in second, four points back. The nearest competition is the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota of driver points leader Daniel Suarez. The No. 19 team is 45 points out of the lead and 41 points behind the second-place team.
