NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Darrell Wallace Jr. has been fined $15,000, according to the weekly penalty/warning report issued by NASCAR on Wednesday. According to the report, the penalty is a result of a behavioral issue stemming from the July 1 running of the Subway Firecracker 250 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.

Specifically, the fine was for a tweet Wallace posted after the Daytona race, referring to NASCAR officials as Muppets.

“Got the muppets up there officiating tonight! Never know how to react under pressure... Whatta joke,” Wallace (@BubbaWallace) tweeted.

Wallace was penalized a position on the race track late in the Firecracker 250 for not maintaining pace speed under caution.

In its penalty announcement, NASCAR cited violations of sections 12.1, 12.8 a and 12..8.1 b of the NASCAR rule book. Section 12.8.a allows NASCAR to fine drivers between $5,000 and $25,000 for remarks that disparage NASCAR.

Roush Fenway Racing, the team for which Wallace drives, has announced that it will not appeal the fine.
