Marco Rubio is in trouble in Florida. Ted Cruz may be headed for trouble in his bid for re-election to the U.S. Senate from Texas. John McCain is being challenged. We don’t know where Jeb Bush is, nor do we care.

The point is, had the Republican Party united behind the front-runner, Donald Trump, after the primaries ended, they all could be ahead. A strong, united Republican Party would have given Trump a big boost, possibly just the boost he needed to get ahead of Hillary Clinton. The Republicans all could have ridden his coattails a big win in November.

Instead, the Republicans are doing what they are good at doing: They are eating their own.

The GOBs (Good Old Boys) were lily-livered like they always are. After Trump overwhelmingly won the Republican nomination, they were afraid that he could not win in the general election. They jumped ship like the sore losers they are.

Their fears about Trump’s ability to win, however, were mostly a self-fulfilling prophecy. Trump is being left to go it alone, without the support of a large portion of his own party.

It will not be fair to blame him if he -- and all those on the down ticket -- fail to win in November.

... When will they ever learn?

I would be happy if Mitt Romney would quite emailing me and telling me how Marco Rubio is in trouble in Florida. If the party elites had not gone against Trump, they could all be part of the winning ticket.
