(as of 10:30 a.m. 9/14/16) FLORESVILLE -- A fifth-grade student at Floresville North Elementary School has been transported by air ambulance to University Hospital in San Antonio after being hit by a car this morning while waiting for the school bus. The child's condition was reported as stable.

According to Floresville ISD superintendent Sherri Bays, the incident occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. on U.S. 181 north of Floresville; a car passed the stopped school bus on the shoulder of U.S. 181 and struck the student, one of two waiting there for the bus.

Eagle Creek Volunteer Emergency Services responded, as well as the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol (DPS) and other agencies. DPS Trooper Jack Johnson continues to investigate the accident; he said charges are pending against the female driver of a white four-door Pontiac.

The district's crisis team will meet, and plan how to best meet the needs of students and teachers in the wake of this morning's event. Counseling will be provided for students and teachers, Bays said.

You are probably right. What a shame. The election is more important than the safety of our children.

Wilson County News: shame on you. I have emails into KSAT. They will publish and do the job you refuse to do. No wonder no one trusts the media.
