Lucy Respondek was called home to the Lord after a hard battle with cancer at the age of 77. She was the daughter of Alma and Edwin Rihn Sr.

Lucy was a collector of friends and loved ones. She had many special friends who will miss her greatly, said her family. The door was always open, particularly on Christmas Eve (her favorite night) when many “adopted” children shared in this special night along with family. She loved to play bunco and was proud of many years spent playing with her friends. There is little doubt that she will now be playing with the angels in heaven.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Edwin Rihn Jr. and Benjamin Bristow; and sister Velma Bristow.

Lucy is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Ray Respondek; a daughter, Cindy Gee, son-in-law Andy Gee, and their two sons, Coby and Shane; a son, Ronald Respondek, daughter-in-law Emilie Respondek, and their children, Jennifer Gregory, Courtney Respondek, Stefanie Ford, Lori Hill, and Josh Johnson; son Steven Respondek and daughter-in-law Zina, and sons Collin, Austin, and Joseph Echauarra and daughters Michelle Mouton and Diana Tedford; son Chris Respondek and daughter-in-law Elizabeth and their daughters Samantha, Sabrina, and Shavonne; and sister Loretta Moczygemba.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. in the Mission Park Stone Oak in San Antonio, Texas.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in San Antonio.

Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery in San Antonio.

Memorial donations may to be made to St. Mark the Evangelist Pipe Organ Fund, or to a charity of one’s choice.
