When NASCAR released its weekly penalty/warning report on Wednesday, the report included fines for two Sprint Cup Series crew chiefs because of lug nut issues discovered post-race. Drew Blickensderfer, crew chief on the No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports Ford team of driver Aric Almirola, and Brian Pattie, crew chief on the No. 16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford team of Greg Biffle, each were fined $10,000, becasue the No. 43 and the No. 16 did not have all lug nuts properly installed at the end of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill., on Sunday.

The other penalty issued at the Sprint Cup level after the Chicagoland race went to the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet team of Tony Stewart. Stewart failed pre-race template inspection three times. As a result, Stewart and company will be docked 15 minutes of practice time at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon in preparation for Sunday’s race there.

NASCAR also handed down penalties to one Camping World Truck Series team. The Truck Series also raced at Chicaoland Speedway, running on Sept. 16. The race-winning No. 18 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota driven by owner Kyle Busch failed post-race inspection becasue the truck’s tailgate height was not within NASCAR specification. As a result, crew chief Wes Ward was fined $6,000 and placed on probation through the end of the year. Also, the team was docked 10 owner points.

Six Sprint Cup teams were issued written warnings for inspection issues throughout the Chicoland Speedway race weekend. The No. 10 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet team of Danica Patrick and the No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet team of Kurt Busch received written warnings for twice failing pre-race laser inspections. The No. 2 Team Penske Ford team of Brad Keselowski, the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet team of Chase Elliott, the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet team of Jimmie Johnson and the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet team for which Alex Bowman drove at Chicagoland received written warnings for failing pre-race template inspection twice.

NASCAR only issued one warning in the Xfinity Series at Chicagoland Speedway. The No. 2 Richard Childress Racing No. 2 team that had Paul Menard behind the wheel received a written warning for three failures in pre-race template inspection before that series’ race on Sept. 17.
