Ryan Reed, NASCAR Xfinity Series driver for Roush Fenway Racing, plans to make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut Oct. 23 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. He’ll also be behind the wheel of a Roush Fenway entry for the Cup race, as he’ll drive a No. 99 Ford. The Xfinity Series will be off that weekend.

“I am really looking forward to Talladega and racing in the Sprint Cup Series,” Reed said. “For anyone that has ever had the chance to get behind the wheel of a race car, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is the ultimate goal.”

The No. 99 Ford will be a fourth entry for RFR at Talladega, joining the organization’s three full-time entries -- the No. 6 of Trevor Bayne, the No. 16 of Greg Biffle and the No. 17 of Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Reed is in his third year of full-time competition in the Xfinity Series. Prior to that, he made six starts during the 2013 season. All 99 of his career series starts have come from behind the wheel of the No. 16 Ford out of the RFR stable. He has one-career Xfinity Series win, coming last year at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. He has three-career top-fives and eight-career top-10 finishes.

Reed has three Xfinity Series stats at Talladega to his credit, leading a total of 37 laps.

Heading into Saturday’s Xfinity Series race at Dover (Del.) International Speedway, Reed is fourth in the series’ chase standings.
