Participate in Candidates’ Forum
The Wilson County News is offering its “Candidates’ Forum” in advance of the Nov. 8 elections.
Candidates in contested races only can submit a free entry, which will be published Wednesday, Oct. 26, and online.
This is an opportunity for candidates to prepare their own, individualized message to voters. Submissions exceeding the stated word length will not be published. Invitations to participate have been sent to candidates in contested races.
The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14.
Candidates for 81st District Attorney are invited to respond in no more than 300 words to this question:
•What do you perceive as the biggest issues the District Attorney/DA’s office faces and how do you plan to address these?
The candidates seeking the office of Wilson County sheriff should respond in no more than 300 words to:
•What do you perceive as the biggest issues the Wilson County sheriff/sheriff’s office faces and how do you plan to address these?
Floresville city council and mayoral candidates are invited to respond to this question, in a maximum of 200 words:
•How do you propose to address the city’s current debt? Do you know how much the city owes and for what?
Candidates for other Wilson County offices, such as constable, as well as East Central Independent School District and Sandy Oaks City Council offices, are asked to address, in no more than 200 words:
•Your personal, professional, and political background
•Why you are running for this office
•What you wish to accomplish or problems you hope to address if elected.
Submissions may be emailed to email@example.com, delivered to our office, faxed to 830-393-3219, or sent by postal mail.
A photograph may accompany each submission. You may send your own, or stop by the newspaper’s office to have a photo taken by one of our staff.
