Meeting Oct. 11 to plan Protestant Reformation 500th-anniversary events in Floresville
Recently, about 30 representatives from eight churches in Floresville met for a most unusual reason. For those who may not be very well-versed in history, 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. It will be a very significant year for all Christians in the West.
To mark this, the Floresville churches have taken a bold stand that 2017 needs to be a year of standing side by side under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and hope to plan a series of events to mark this significant anniversary.
Anyone interested in helping is invited to an informational meeting Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 6:30 p.m., at Lew’s Patio & Grill in Floresville.
You can also visit with your pastor if you’re interested in helping.
Without a doubt, the Protestant Reformation was one of the most difficult and painful chapters of the Church. There was incredible dissention and strife, so extreme in some areas that, sadly, some people lost their lives.
Yes, doctrinal differences do exist. Still, we can all acknowledge Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
Please pray for 2017 to be a year of celebrating the One Lord Jesus Christ.
