October 25, 2016

The city of Floresville continues to have economic growth as more businesses and residents choose Floresville. Despite many changes in our community, including going from a small 2A school to a bustling 5A school, our city tax rate has remained constant. In fact, Floresville has one of the lowest tax rates in Texas.

In comparison, please note:
•Floresville: .3625
•Pleasanton: .48977
•Pearsall: .5282
•Lockhart: .7330.

As the city grows, so does the need to expand our sewer and water system. The city has been awarded approximately $13 million in grants and low-interest loans to build a new wastewater treatment plant and replace old water lines. Also, every water meter will be replaced with a drive-by system meter.

Standard and Poors has assigned Floresville an “A” credit rating.

The city will continue a streets-maintenance program, build new ball fields, and make drainage improvements throughout town.

We continue to improve our city without costing the taxpayer much more than we paid 25 years ago.

I ask for your continued support.

The Wilson County News will provide a Candidates Forum in the print edition Oct. 26. In an effort to provide voters with information earlier, the Wilson County News is publishing candidate information as it is received.
