Three La Vernia calf scramblers, who were each successful in catching a calf in the 2012 San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo, returned to participate in the San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo Calf Scramble Reception Feb. 13. Zachary Balcar, Jennifer Skryzcki, and Landon Richter, all juniors at La Vernia High School, were each awarded an $800 scholarship to purchase a breeding animal to raise and show at the 2013 San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo.

Each exhibitor is also required to do a record book for their project and turn it in to be judged. Zachary and Landon, both members of the La Vernia FFA, chose to raise and show a Duroc and Yorkshire breeding gilt, respectively. Jennifer, a member of the 4-H Club, chose to raise and show a Boer breeding doe.

These kids have worked very hard all year on their projects and would like to thank the San Antonio Livestock Exposition Calf Scramble Committee and sponsors for giving them this opportunity.
