Tommy Fletcher to lead East Central FFA members

SAN ANTONIO -- The East Central FFA held its annual chapter banquet May 9 at the East Central High School auditorium to honor its members and announce the new officer team.
The East Central FFA had many members that participated in many Career Development Events (CDE) and Leadership Development Events (LDE) teams. They competed in teams that qualified for the state and national level contests this past year. This was an opportunity to recognize the members for all of their hard work.
There were also individual awards given out to individuals who excelled in their project programs. They were required to go through an application process and meet the requirements of the area they were applying for.
Proficiency award winners include:
•Beef -- Crystallyn Bettice, Kaylie Bettice, Todd Bettice, Jordan Hevner, and Kylie Patterson
•Poultry -- Emileigh Geistweidt, Stephenie Geistweidt, Jordan Hevner, Shelbi Knox, and Johnna Pieniazek
•Sheep -- Anissa Cervera and Ciarra Gawlik.
Swine production award winners were Megan Van Der Knaap and Cheyenne Zaiontz.
The diversified livestock winner was Jordan Hevner, while the special animal production proficiency winner was Shelbi Knox.
Other individual awards given out were presented to those who stood out in their degree area, including:
•Star Greenhands -- Kylie Patterson and Johnna Pieniazek
•Star Chapter -- Paige Kosub and Cheyenne Zaiontz
•Star Lone Star -- Stephenie Geistweidt, Jordan Hevner, and Shelbi Knox.
The Dekalb award, given to the outstanding seniors, was awarded to Emileigh Geistweidt and Alexis Wagner.
Jordan Hevner will be advancing on to state with her beef, diversified, and poultry proficiencies. Kylie Patterson will also be advancing on to state representing Area VII as the Star Greenhand.
The East Central FFA also awarded several Honorary Chapter Degrees to individuals who have rendered outstanding service to the FFA. Those receiving the award were Diane Anglin, Lacey Vasbinder, Randall Rauschuber, Tyler and Claudia Thames, Tommy and Tracey McGhee, and Mary and David Sifford.
The 2013-14 officers were also inducted. The new officers are President Tommy Fletcher, Vice President Paige Kosub, Secretary Kylie Patterson, Treasurer Ciarra Gawlik, Reporter Jordan Hevner, Sentinel Stephenie Geistweidt, Student Advisor Johnna Pieniazek, and Historian Cheyenne Zaiontz.
