1930-2013

Hugh Ollie Scott, 82, passed away peacefully before dawn on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, in the Odyssey Hospice in San Antonio. He had endured a courageous struggle to live out his final years while confronting cancer. He was a resident of the Sattler community in Canyon Lake, Texas, at the time of his death. Hugh was born on Sept. 30, 1930, in Quincy, Miss., to Ollie Winfield and Rebecca Geneva (Myatt) Scott.

Hugh grew up on a farm in the Amory, Miss., area. He married Rosale Emma Voigt on Aug. 18, 1956, in the Randolph Air Force Base Chapel No. 2. They lovingly shared more than 56 years together. Hugh served in the National Guard and later in the U.S. Air Force. After his Air Force days, he worked in textiles and as a skilled carpenter. He was also a certified vehicle bodyman, which he did until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George Willis Scott; and his sister, Evelyn Martin.

Hugh is survived by his wife, Rosale Emma of Canyon Lake; his son, David Hugh Scott of San Antonio; his daughters, Diane Pearl Corona and husband Gilbert of San Antonio and Lauren Rebecca Engbrock and husband Scott of Spring Branch; his granddaughters, Amy Christine, Rosa Lenore, and Ashley Brooke; one great-granddaughter, Karis Danielle; his lovely twin sisters, Jean Cantrell and Joan Stanford, both of Amory, Miss.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Victor and Ivarene (Voigt) Hosek of Floresville; his loving nieces and nephews; and many other relatives.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 6-8 p.m. in the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in San Antonio.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in San Antonio.

Interment followed in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Canyon Lake Animal Shelter, 2170 Old Sattler Road, Canyon Lake, TX 78070.
