Austin Raines of La Vernia will be the first cadet to be sporting a Bike Bug Bicycle Engine on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station. Austin has recently obtained his Eagle Scout rank and is a 2013 graduate of La Vernia High School.

Bike Bug routinely awards scholarships in recognition of individuals who perform service for the community or benefits another person.

Austin will be riding an improved Bike Bug bicycle engine -- rear mount with the clutch system mounted on the handlebar like a motorcycle. The improved clutch system incorporates a locking mechanism, which will disengage the engine to allow pedaling with no engine interference.

Bike Bug has recreated an improved Bike Bug bicycle engine based on the original 1950s Bike Bug bicycle engine that was “America’s Favorite Bicycle Engine.” At 200 Smiles per gallon, Austin will be smiling with “The Wind In His Face,” reducing the high cost of a college education.
