COMFORT -- Two La Vernia youths received awards at the end of their week of camping at Hermann Sons Youth Camp this summer.

A week at Hermann Sons Youth Camp is offered as a fraternal benefit to junior members of Hermann Sons between the ages of 9 and 13. Eight weekly sessions are held each year at two sites -- Riverside Camp for girls and Hilltop Camp for boys. Both are accredited by the American Camp Association.

•Ryan Churchman was named Best Camper during week 5 at Hilltop Camp. Ryan, a member of La Vernia Lodge No. 180, is the son of James and Debbie Churchman.

•Zachary Scott was named Best Camper during week 8 at Hilltop Camp. Zachary, a member of Siemering Lodge No. 32, is the son of Keith and Shannon Scott.

The Grand Lodge, which was formed in 1890, is located in San Antonio. Besides the youth camp, the Order operates 31 tuition-free dance schools for its junior members and a retirement home for its older members.
