Running For Office – They Might Want To Heed This Advice
August 27, 2010 Harlingen, Texas, August 27, 2010: The request went out to just over 7,000 readers. They were asked what they want to see from the next officials they place in office. Surprisingly, 752 people have answered. Now that is well over a ten percent response rate, and most statisticians will tell you that anything over a 3% response is considered good. August 26, 2010 Harlingen, Texas, August 26, 2010: Those who have been following the various primary elections across the country must have noticed that nobody is safe. Just being an incumbent places the candidate in a danger zone. Having a Democrat or Republican nametag will only garner a person a small following of voters. Some observers feel that a candidate coming from “political nowhere” has a better chance of winning than anyone with a long track record in politics. (More) Guy Gabaldon – Do You Remember ?
August 24, 2010 Harlingen, Texas, August 22, 2010: It happens every time a few grey-haired members of the warrior clan assemble for casual conversation. August 19, 2010 Harlingen, Texas, August 19, 2010: According to an email from my brother, Nate, who calls California home, his state is really in bad shape. Since politicians are notoriously poor at math, they can only estimate the state is in debt between 19 and 21 billion dollars. The state, counties and cities are either passing out pink slips to people or making them take days off work without pay. Schools are terminating the employment of teachers and staff. Those educators still employed are also targeted. Some school districts are requiring the working teachers to take reductions in their wages just to retain their positions. Colleges and universities are cutting their staff, limiting enrollment and reducing the number of classes being offered. Plants are closing or relocating. The value of housing has dropped up to 50% in some locales. While this is taking place the prices on everything from utilities to gasoline keep climbing. Unemployment continues at 12.5%. August 12, 2010 Harlingen, Texas, August 11, 2010: Many of us can remember a saying that was often used by parents or grandparents when they were encouraging us to excel at some particular worthy effort. They told us we should go out and “put our best foot forward”. It was their way of telling us to put everything we had into the project or event. (More) What Is The Military Worth To Washington?
