Gene Maeckel January 26, 2010 Just before the outbreak of the American Civil War, Sawyer and Risher operated four horse coaches over three different routes between San Antonio and Powderhorn. One left every other day from San Antonio through Sutherland Springs, Ecleto, Yorktown, Clinton, Victoria, and Lavaca, then on to Powderhorn. On alternate days, stages left San Antonio via Helena, Charco, and Goliad, then on to Powderhorn. The third route traveled from San Antonio to Seguin, Gonzales, Victoria, and Lavaca, ending at Powderhorn every other day. (More)

The Floresville Independent School District has changed dramatically since 1926, and will host the Wilson County Sesquicentennial inaugural event on Sunday, Jan. 3, at 2:30 p.m. with the “Faith of Our Fathers” ceremony in the cafeteria of the new Floresville High School.
