Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown hits South Boston

April 17, 2014
The NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide series are off until the April 25 and 26 race weekend and Richmond (Va.) International Speedway and the Camping World Truck Series doesn’t race again until May, but several drivers will suit up April 24 for the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown, scheduled for Aprile 24 at South Boston (Va.) Speedway. The event was formerly hosted at Richmond and at Southside Speedway near Hamlin’s hometown of Chesterfield, Va., before that.  (More)
Chase Elliott vs. Kyle Larson: future Sprint Cup rivals?

April 17, 2014
Okay, I’ll start off by saying that I’m willing to be the first to admit that I was wrong about that decision by Chip Ganassi to move Kyle Larson up to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for 2014 to replace the departed Juan Pablo Montoya in the No. 42 Chevrolet. Soon after the announcement was made last fall, I proclaimed that it was two early and that, perhaps, Larson would suffer the same adjustment problems suffered by Joey Logano early on in his Sprint Cup career. Logano has said publicly that he made the jump too early. Admittedly, I thought Larson was making the same mistake.  (More)
Chase score card: leaving Darlington Raceway

April 15, 2014
With his second win of the season coming Saturday night in the Bojangles’ Southern 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Darlington (S.C.) Racway, Kevin Harvick assued his spot in the 16-driver Chase for the Sprint Cup championship post-season, that is if he’s in the top-30 in points come the end of race 26 at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway in September. After his second win, Harvick climbed to 22nd in the standings, 68 points ahead of 31st.  (More)
Will one win get you in?

April 15, 2014
NASCAR’s new criteria for getting into the Chase for the Sprint Cup doesn’t completely diminish the value of points. After all, once slots are filled with race-winning drivers, the rest of the 16 driver/car field is to be filled according to the points standings. And, of course, there is the Chase spot reserved for the points leader after the Chase cut-off race at Richmond (Va.) International Speedway in September, race winner or not.  (More)
Kevin Harvick claims pole at Darlington

April 14, 2014
Kevin Harvick turned in a 26.802-second/183.479 mph lap during the third and final round of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway on Friday to claim the pole for Saturday night’s Bojangles’ Southern 500 at the track. He’ll be joined on the front row by Joey Logano.  (More)
Chase Elliott notches win number two at Darlington

April 14, 2014
Chase Elliott claimed his second-straight NASCAR Nationwide Series win and his second-career win in only seven series starts on Friday night by passing Elliott Sadler on the last lap of the VFW Sport Clips Help a Hero 200 at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway.  (More)
Statistically speaking: a look at Darlington Raceway

April 11, 2014
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Darlington (S.C.) Raceway this weekend for Saturday night’s Bojangles’ Southern 500. It’s the eighth race of the 2014 season, and so far, seven different drivers have won the first seven races to start the year -- Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch and Joey Logano.  (More)

Jimmy Weller to make Nationwide Series debut at Richmond

April 11, 2014
"I'm looking forward to making my NASCAR Nationwide Series debut later this month at Richmond International Raceway," Weller said. "It means a lot to me to be able to take the next step in my career and finally compete in the Nationwide Series. I'm also really excited that I'll get to race at Richmond-it's a fun track and one that I've had success at in the past, so I'm excited to get back there."  (More)

How Article Search Works

The Article search engine looks for an exact match on any word(s) in the headline or the article body.

You can choose to search only articles in a specific category (e.g., Business) or All News & Blogs.

For example, if you type in the word Floresville, the search results will include Floresville City Council Agenda, Floresville City Council Special Meeting, and any other articles that have the word Floresville in either the headline or the article body.

If you search for multiple words, let’s say the words Floresville and 775, the search results will list any articles that include both Floresville AND 775 somewhere in the headline or the article body.
