No. 20 Truck Series team penalized after Chicagoland

On Wednesday, NASCAR announced penalties for the No. 20 NTS Motorsports Chevrolet team in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, because the truck failed post-race inspection at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill., on Sept. 13. The truck failed to meat post-race ground clearance requirements.  (More)
Investigation of Kevin Ward Jr. / Tony Stewart incident concluded

The Ontario County (N.Y.) Office of the Sheriff has concluded its investigation on Thursday into the incident between Tony Stewart and Kevin Ward Jr. at Canandaigua Motorsports Park on Aug. 9 that resulted in Ward’s death, according to an announcement from the Sheriff’s office on Thursday.  (More)
Aric Almirola gets extra seat time with two Nationwide Series starts

NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup first timer Aric Almirola plans on getting a little extra seat time for this year's Chase races by running two Nationwide Series races throughout the course of the remainder of the 2014 race season. His first of those two races will be Saturday's race at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill. That race is a companion event to the Chase-opening MyAFibStory.comm 400 to be held at Chicagoland on Sunday. Almirola is also slated to compete in the Nationwide Series race at Dover (Del.) International Speedway on Sept. 27, the companion race to the AAA 400 Sprint Cup race at the track the following day. The Dover Sprint Cup event is the third race of the Chase. He'll drive the No. 98 Ford entry of Biagi-DenBeste Racing in both races through a deal with Richard Petty Motorsports.  (More)
Nationwide Series to become Xfinity Series

NASCAR announced on Wednesday that Comcast Xfinity will be the new sponsor of what is now known as the Nationwide Series, beginning in 2015. Nationwide Insurance's deal to be the title of NASCAR's second-tier series ends at the end of the current season.  (More)
Tony Stewart can still get into Chase

During a press conference at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Friday, NASCAR President Mike Helton announced that, because of his special circumstance, Tony Stewart will retain eligibilty to go after one of the 16 slots in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.  (More)
Tony Stewart returns

Tony Stewart is back on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series scene. After missing three Cup races at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International, Michigan International Speedway and Bristol (Ten.) Motor Speedway, Stewart is set to return to racing action at Atlanta Motor Speedway for Sunday night’s Oral-B USA 500, according to a release from Stewart-Haas Racing.  (More)
NASCAR preps for 2015 with Michigan test

One day removed from the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich., NASCAR conducted a test at MIS on Monday as part of the process to determine the 2015 rules package for Sprint Cup Series competition. Ten Cup teams participated in the test.  (More)
Carl Edwards’ move to JGR now official

Joe Gibbs Racing held a press conference on Tuesday to announce that Carl Edwards will join JGR for 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition. Edwards’ move to Joe Gibbs Racing had been widely speculated and presumed for months, but the announcement on Tuesday morning made the move official.  (More)
Canandaigua Motorsports Park promoter releases statement

August 12, 2014
Jeremie Corcoran, promoter at Canandaigua Motorsports Park in upstate New York, site of the fatal incident involving racers Kevin Ward Jr. and Tony Stewart on Saturday night, has announced that Wednesday night’s schedule of racing at the track has been cancelled. According to Corcoran, the decision to cancel Wednesday night racing at the track was made to give fans and competitors “time to grieve.” The track’s Facebook page was also taken down soon after the incident after an onslaught of “insensitive and hateful comments.”  (More)
