Judge Schnabel was a 1944 graduate of Bryant High School. The narrative portion of the book describes many of the key events that took place at Bryant from the late 1800s up until the population dwindled and the town finally ceased to exist. With the intent of capturing the look and feel of day-to-day life in one of the many town sites that were incorporated back when land in the Oklahoma Indian Territory first became available for outside settlement, many of the event mentioned in the narrative are then beautifully illustrated through the use of a non-stock collection of over 300 photographs and other graphic forms. The author, Mike Martin of Visalia, California, is himself a former resident of Bryant.
