Brian. So are your telling me that all taxes should be totally voluntary per indivudual. Like Sunday giving, just toss in what you feel like. If you gave money to a charity and then heard that they went out and spend it on resort vacations.
Would you donate again? ...Becky, are you against Social Security as an idea or the way it is administered. If it was run by the states you would have a huge dispartity in benefits. States like Mississippi might pay $200 a month while Mass or California might pay out $1000 a month. The problem with SS is that congress keeps putting IOUs in the fund and using the money. If all the SS money were kept for the indended purpose the fund would not have a problem. Its like the Tex state legislature keeps taking road fund money from the road tax and using it for other purposes. Now Tex does not have money to build the roads it needs. Do you make sure the money is locked for its intended purpose or do you just get rid of the road tax and the road fund. We still need roads?
