The Republicans weren't voted out because they were the party of no, they were voted out because they were too much like the Democrats and people wanted a change. Because the Dems say "yes" to everything they propose, without thought or review, someone has to say "No". The republicans, maybe too late, are listening to their constituents, the dems, don't appear to be. This is what go them in trouble in the 90s when they last lost their leadership role.
