"the cost of the active ingredients in a pill is a tiny, tiny fraction of what the consumer is charged."

Yeah, the cost of 148 grains of gunpowder is also a tiny fraction of the cost of a Remington manufactured bullet. But, I don't think I want to trust my life to just anybody with a can of gunpowder and a piece of brass tubing.

The cost of a few ounces of lye is also a tiny fraction of the cost of a bar of Ivory soap, but I don't want to trust my butt to just anybody with a big kettle and a campfire.

The cost of the corn and sugar is a tiny fraction of what I'd pay for a bottle of Jack Daniels, but there ain't no comparison between that and moonshine cooked up in the back woods by just anybody with a rough idea of how grandpa used to do it.
