"It is very easy. This country was founded on the principle of individual freedom and personal responsibility."

You speak of personal responsibility. When has a drug addict ever taken responsibility for the crimes he or she has commited! My point is that most illegal drugs impair the judjment of the user. The user (criminal) normaly blames it on the drug, stating that he or she was not in his right state of mind when he or she commited the crime.

Most drug users are uneducated on the effects of drugs and that is one of the reasons drug pushing is illegal. A drug pusher tells his customer "here take this it will make you feel good." When I pick up a prescription drug from the pharmacy, the pharmacist educates me on what the drug is for and how to use it. It also comes with a peice of paper that explains the possible side effects. I then have a choice to take it or give it to my children or whom ever the prescription is for.

Many liberals have taken liberalism and used it in manner in which is was not intended. The declaration of independence states that "all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; that to insure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."

John Locke was an 17th century english physician and philosopher who's words are echoed in the declaration of independence. John Locke is often credited with the philosophical foundations of modern liberalism. He wrote "no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty, or possessions.

It is a fact that drugs cause people harm and pose many health risks. Drugs also strip the liberty of its users. A drug addict or alcoholic are prisoners of the substance that controls their cravings, thoughts, feelings and actions. Drugs also strip users of their possesions and influnces them to strip others of their possesions as well.

IM POSITIVE THAT THE FREEDOM YOU SPEAK OF WAS NOT THE FREEDOM THAT WAS INTENDED FOR THIS GREAT NATION.
