"It is a fact that drugs cause people harm and pose many health risks. Drugs also strip the liberty of its users."
You basic premise is wrong. Inert substances have no will and therefore cannot cause anything. Therefore, all your conclusions based on that premise are not valid.
By the way, the major drugs in the world -- alcohol, cocaine, opiates, and cannabis -- are valuable medicines which have served mankind for hundreds of years. These naturally produced medicines are also the safest drugs. Preparations of coca, opium, cannabis, and alcohol have been safely produced and consumed for centuries. These much-valued herbal medicines also have religious, ceremonial, and recreational uses. They belong in every home and medicine cabinet unless the property owner decides otherwise. Freedom means that you decide for yourself and your fellow human beings decide for themselves. Communisn means that some elite decides for everyone. That is the difference between communism and freedom.
If you want to believe that medicinal plants and extracts are evil substances that destroy all those who possess them unless they are protected by a magic piece of paper called a "license" or "prescription", that is your choice. You are free to believe any voodoo nonsense that you want. But, you don't have the right to murder, assault, rob, and arrest all those who do not share your pagan beliefs about evil substances with supernatural powers. In fact, the purpose of the Second Amendment is to give individuals the means to defend themselves from violent predators such as yourself.
The several hundred million honest, decent human beings who have been declared criminals by thousands of U.S. drug laws are not "illegal drug pushers" who abuse children or other sub-human creatures who need to be cleansed from the planet. Likewise they are not uneducated fools who need you to control their lives. The truth is that they are are no more inferior to you self-proclaimed, drug-free supremacists than the Jews were inferior to the Nazis. In other words, you don't have the right to murder, assault, rob, and arrest millions of innocent people just because they do not pass your voodoo, arbitrary test of purity anymore than the Nazi's had that right.
"You speak of personal responsibility. When has a drug addict ever taken responsibility for the crimes he or she has committed!"
I don't know any "drug addicts". When has any substance-abuse-expert idiot ever taken responsibility for the crimes he or she has committed! I have met many of them and none of them take any responsibility for their crimes against the victims of their wars. In any case, individuals commit crimes, not groups. You are using the unjust principle of guilt by association.
"IM POSITIVE THAT THE FREEDOM YOU SPEAK OF WAS NOT THE FREEDOM THAT WAS INTENDED FOR THIS GREAT NATION."
I'M POSITIVE THAT YOU ARE WRONG. The people who founded this country never outlawed medicinal plants or plant-derived drugs. Opiates, cannabis, and cocaine were completely legal and there were no drug prescription laws. Anyone who proposed such laws would not have been taken seriously by anyone. In fact, the people who founded this country were smugglers, gun owners, and tax resistors. The Founders did not recognize the authority of any government to interfere with honest trade, peaceful behavior, or the right to bear arms. Ultimately, they refused to be stopped and searched for guns and contraband. These facts are the origin of the Second and Fourth Amendments, the heart and soul of this Republic.
Thus, in addition to being violent predators and terrorists who target civilians, drug fighters and illegalizers are also traitors.
Rick -- Freedom_First at verizon.net
PS. The patriot, Patrick Henry, said, "Give me liberty or give me death". None of the founders said, "Give me power and control over others or give me death." I sincerely hope that gain the courage to recognize your immorality and stop advocating violence against peaceful people. I also hope that you do so before any of your victims get the idea to give you a taste of your own medicine. Remember, what comes around goes around. He who lives by the sword might die by the sword.
