 		 "OLD AS DIRT"...people who "wear their degrees" on their sleeve are not bright, enlightened, honorable people deserving respect and homage...some of the smartest people that ever walked on this earth never set foot in a college. I have seen and heard of people all my life with more degrees on the backside of their name than letters within their name, and generally not impressed with folk that wear their 'degrees' like a spring dress. Degrees do not mean that you are any more intelligent, honorable, pragmatic, decent than anyone else. Crowing about your degrees and making sure you find a context in which to mention that you have them is both ugly and demeaning and makes my skin crawl.

I grew up in Wilson County and church mice gave regular donations to my family cause we were so poor. I also have degrees, started and run my own successful business, but I don't feel the need to shout about it. Being truly intelligent, humble, pragmatic means that you feel comfortable enough in your own skin to not feel the need to holler to anyone within shouting distance, "Hey look at me! I'm smart! I have 3 degrees! My solutions and my arguments and my beliefs are the only ones that REALLY matter cause I have 3 degrees!".....So what? you have 3 degrees! So bloody what? Obama has 2 or 3 degrees and he doesn't have a clue! In every argument where there are PHD's talking, they generally have opposing views so that probably means that one of them is wrong. Right? So, please shut up about the degrees and telling everyone how much you know. I don't know anyone with an opinion that I trust more than my own.
