We have received information from emergency personnel who were at the scene that the incident occurred on C.R. 305 between F.M. 539 and S.H. 97. F.M. 539 was closed because of a cloud of natural gas that was blowing across the roadway. This road has since been reopened, as the area of the pipeline that ruptured has been isolated and the flow of gas was shut off.
The line, which is owned by Enterprise Products, provides natural gas to CenterPoint Energy customers living in several communities including Stockdale. A company representative said there was no explosion, as there was never any ignition. Rather, the 20-inch line ruptured, for reasons yet unknown. Repairs to the line are expected to be complete within 24 hours.
