It's because the Keetch-Byram Drought Index is higher than 575 (KBDI mean today for Wilson County is 652.9624 per http://webgis.tamu.edu/maps/kbdi). Plus, the commissioners applied for a state-issued disaster declaration at their May 23 meeting. For more information, call the Wilson County Health and Public Safety Office at 830-393-8503.
