Yesterday, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest of Mark Anthony Gonzales, 41, of San Antonio:
The multi-agency task force, working tirelessly over the past seven days searching for clues and any information leading to arrest, has succeeded in just that. The killer of Sergeant Kenneth Gary Vann Sr. has been arrested and will be charged with Capital Murder in connection with the slaying.

The Bexar County SWAT Team alongside the FBI SWAT Team entered the property on Pleasanton Rd about 3:45PM this afternoon to arrest Mark Anthony Gonzales for the crime. Gonzales, his wife and small child were located inside the home and taken into custody after SWAT Team members stormed the double wide trailer. The arrest was made without incident.

Gonzales was immediately transported to the downtown Homicide Office along with his wife. His wife will be questioned and Detectives will determine then if she had anything to do with Sgt. Vann’s murder. The children were released to a relative.

A weapon similar to what Detectives believe to have been used in the killing was also recovered from inside the home. We do not have a motive for Gonzales’ actions that early morning of May 28th, but Detectives hope to identify why Gonzales decided to take Sgt. Vann’s life.
