It is not our community they were protecting, Dog Lover the reason he was not involved is because it didn't happen here, that is why no other officers were involved from this area! It was another community that is two counties away. Here is what I want to know, how much is this incident going to cost the tax payers of Floresville (his injuries/hospital and his car?) and how much have we gained (monetary) from helping another community? Remember we are over there to gain monetary gains in helping with drug interdiction on highways that doesn't run through Floresville.
No report has been given by the City Manager on this topic to the council about how this "partnership" with Three Rivers is going. We are wasting tax payer time, money and above all taking officers off our streets and putting them elsewhere for a dime? How many dimes have we gained in this venture? I think Mr. Gibbs should write a story on this and look further into the matter.
Yes, I'm glad that the officer is okay and yes those in blue do their job with what they are given here BUT we have pulled officers off Floresville streets and put them on others. That is risking our safety here in Floresville and it puts our officers doing their jobs here at risk. No one ever said the officers do not do their jobs well here. They do what they can with what they are given. They do deserve a lot more, but not by pulling them off our streets.
There needs to be some checks and balances on this topic.
