Mr. Charmaine, I do appreciate your dialogue and also agree we should discuss these matters in the open. I am open to meeting in person with everyone. We can have a town hall meeting. Any suggestions on where and how you feel we would get the greatest turn out. What night, time, location, etc. Millsap ISD did what we had to do for our students and staff under the current finance system. I will not apologize for that. Our story and circumstances are very different than Floresville or other school districts. But I have no problem at all in sharing our story. In fact, I am proud of our story and accomplishments. Millsap ISD has accomplished great things, we have a very supportive community, great kids and a great staff. I am very proud as a superintendent, father and taxpayer of what we have done. I look forward to working with you and everyone in making sure we do everything in our power to keep Floresville ISD strong academically and financially sound. We will be having several meetings with our entire community, parents and staff to discuss public school finance and how we can help Floresville ISD meet everyone's expectations. We cannot do this alone and we cannot do this over the internet. We need your passion and high expectations in our meetings. Thank you all for taking the time to debate these issues. If hired as your superintendent all of you will be invited soon to take part in committees that will keep everyone informed and will keep me accountable as your superintendent. We will also have as many town hall meetings as all of you feel we need. We truly need all of you to be involved. Floresville ISD is a great place. Your district has a great community, staff, board of trustees, students, and facilities. My family and I are truly honored and humbled to be given this opportunity. Representatives from your board of trustees visited Millsap ISD. They met with staff, administrators, parents , community leaders, and board members. You can get with them in person concerning their visit and why they chose me. Again, thank you for your interest and passion for Floresville ISD. If you have any questions please give me a call at 940-783-1838 (cell). Respectfully, Jerry Lee Hunkapiller, Ed.D.
