According to a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll, Americans believe a "failure by Congress to raise the nation’s statutory debt ceiling" would be a serious problem. OK, but we all know about polls. How was the question asked? It is the "failure by Congress" that I question. What about a president who has been in office for two years and HAS DONE NOTHING TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. Why say it's Congress' failure.

Obama's only answer is "give me more money to spend" on projects that are not working.

Of course, this country's finances are "a serious issue!" The question is what to do about it. Obama says spend more. Conservatives say QUIT SPENDING.

Yes, people are worried about a worsening economy, but it means little that "60% of them [are] saying failure to lift the ceiling would have real and serious consequences." Most do not know WHAT the debt ceiling is all about. They just mimic what they hear on ABC, NBC, CBS and all they do is repeat what they are fed by the administration.
